We offer two categories of Open Hockey:

Stick & Puck

Stick & Puck is designed for skaters to practice individual skills, such as skating, shooting, and passing. Scrimmages are not allowed during this event. Private hockey lessons are available during Stick & Puck sessions.

Pick-Up Hockey

Pick-Up Hockey (aka rat hockey or pond hockey) is your designated scrimmage. Players sign up and split into teams on their own. There is no checking allowed. Players officiate themselves.

Open Hockey Equipment Rules

18 Years of Age and Under

FULL EQUIPMENT, which includes:

  • Helmet and Facemask (HECC approved)
  • Shoulder Pads
  • Elbow Pads
  • Shin Guards
  • Hockey Gloves
  • Breezers (Hockey Pants)
  • Cup
  • Hockey Sticks (ice) Hockey Equipment

Over 18 Years of Age

Full equipment is highly recommended:

  • Helmet Required (facemask or half shield highly recommended)
  • Shin Guards Required
  • Elbow Pads
  • Hockey Gloves Required
  • Cup
  • Hockey Sticks (ice hockey stick required)

The Following Gear is Required for Pick – Up Hockey (aka Rat Hockey)

All ages are required to wear FULL EQUIPMENT, which includes:

  • Helmet and Facemask (HECC approved)
  • Shoulder Pads

  • Shin Guards
  • Hockey Gloves
  • Breezers (Hockey Pants)
  • Cup
  • Hockey Sticks (ice)
