Freestyle Practice Ice
Freestyle practice ice is special practice time set aside for figure skaters only. These sessions, sold in ½-hour increments, limit the number of skaters, allowing skaters to effectively practice skills and programs required of the sport. Skaters can purchase one or several consecutive ½-hour sessions. Early morning, afternoon, and weekend times are available. Monthly schedules are available on the Bloomington Ice Center website and also available in the rink at the Guest Services counter. Skaters and coaches must sign in for attendance and waiver. All freestyle rules and procedures apply.
Sessions can be purchased on an individual time slot basis or in a block of time. Call (309) 434-2875 for details. Payment by skaters and coaches signifies agreement to all rules and procedures of Freestyle Session Skating at the Bloomington Ice Center.
Private Lessons
Coaches must furnish Bloomington Ice Center with a certificate of liability insurance prior to attending a freestyle session. Coaches who will be using the jump harness must, in addition to furnishing a certificate of liability insurance, must complete the in-house jump harness training course. Please call (309) 434-2877 for more information.
In House Coaches
In house coaches will not have to pay daily coaching fees, but will be required to commit time to our in house Learn to Skate (LTS) programs. The minimum requirements for these coaches are: available to teach for the LTS program 2 out of the 3 lesson days per week. Coaches must average 2.5 hours on weekly payroll.
Visitor Coaches
Classified as any coach that does not commit to the in house LTS program requirements listed above. Coaches who travel from surrounding areas to teach over the summer or who are here for special events (competitions & test sessions) will be considered visitor coaches. These coaches will be required to pay a coaching fee of $4.00 for every freestyle session they teach on. Visitor coaches must pay before each session.
